I watched Moana a couple of days ago, I was actually very impressed by this movie, it’s so good and so well made, the animation is glorious, the songs brilliant and the story is really good.
First of all Moana stars Auli’i Cravalho as Moana, Dwayne Johnson as Maui, Rachel House as Gramma Tala, Temuera Morrison as Chief Tui, Jemaine Clement as Tamatoa, Nicole Scherzinger as Sina and Alan Tudyk as Heihei.
The film’s screenplay was written by Jared Bush, and Directed by Ron Clements and John Musker, and also co-directed by Don Hall and Chris Williams.
The film is about Moana who is chosen by the ocean to find Maui and return the heart of the goddess Te Fiti, which Maui stole in the first place and caused a terrible curse.
I don’t want to go too much into the details of the plot, so not to spoil it for anyone who hasn’t seen it. There are some amazing songs in this movie, my favourites were How Far I’ll Go preformed by Auli’i Cravalho and You’re Welcome, performed amazingly by Dwayne Johnson, who is an incredible singer.
I also liked the song Shiny performed by Jemaine Clement, who plays the crab Tamatoa who has Maui’s magical hook that gives him the power of being able to shape shift in to any animal.
The film is full humor throughout and has some very emotional moments too, and I will admit one scene made me well up a little.
It’s a very good movie and one of Disney’s best films of recent years, definitely a huge improvement on the Frozen movies. 5 out of 5.
