Abzurdah is a 2015 Argentian film, based on a true story. I have newly signed up to Netflix, to help extend my viewing experience further. This was the second movie that I watched.
The film is about a 17 year old girl who has an affair with an older man. When the affair begins to break apart, Cielo has difficulty coming to terms with it, and basically starts to fall apart. By the time she is 18 she has ended up becoming anorexic and even self harming, to the degree of almost dying.
The movie stars Eugenia Suarez, Esteban Lamothe, Gloria Carrá, Rafael Spregelburd, Julieta Gullo, and Zoe Hochbaum.
The film was written by Daniela Goggi, Alejandro Montiel, and Alberto Rojas Apel, and adapted from the autobiography of Cielo Latini. The movie was directed by Daniela Goggi.
I found that the whole production very compelling viewing, it’s well written and directed, and the lead actress Eugenia Suarez is mesmerising and gives an amazing performance. It tackles its subject matter tastefully and shows you just how anyone’s life can spiral out of control.
A brilliant must see movie, 5 out of 5.
