Just come out of the cinema as I have just seen The Father. Anthony Hopkins won the Oscar for Best Actor, and it’s no wonder why. Tbh why this movie didn’t win one for best film is truly mind blowing.
Basically this movie looks at what it’s like to be in the mind of someone with alzheimers, making it a movie that every one needs to see, even if it is hard to watch at times.
The film stars Anthony Hopkins as Anthony, Olivia Colman as Anne, Rufus Sewell as Paul, Imogen Poots as Laura, Mark Gatiss as The Man, Olivia Williams as The Woman, and Ayesha Dharker.
The movie was written by Florian Zeller, adapted from his stage play, and it’s also directed by Florian Zeller.
The whole story is full of distorted moments, one after the next, as you the viewer follow the story from Anthony’s perspective. The whole cast give amazing performances, Anthony Hopkins above all else. The script is beautifully crafted and the whole production is amazingly directed. It’s powerful stuff and I couldn’t take my eyes off the screen.
A must see movie, 5 out of 5.
