Today watched two great movies on Netflix, The Babysitter and its sequel The Babysitter Killer Queen. I highly recommend both.
THE BABYSITTER (2017)
This just amazed me, it’s a Horror comedy, that is just so much fun.
Starring Samara Weaving, Judah Lewis, Hana Mae Lee, Bella Thorne, Emily Alyn Lind, Leslie Bibb, Ken Marino, Robbie Amell, and Andrew Bachelor. The movie was written by Brian Duffield and directed by McG.
For Cole it’s a fight for survival when he accidentally witnesses his babysitter and her friends kill a young man as a sacrifice in his living room, as part of some demonic ritual so they get their hearts desire.
It’s just packed with humor, gory death scenes and truly laugh out loud moments, as 12 year old Cole’s dream woman, the only person who really seems to get him, aka his babysitter, turns into his worst nightmare. The most fun I’ve had in ages. 4 1/2 out of 5.
THE BABYSITTER 2 KILLER QUEEN (2020)
Set two years after the original film, and poor Cole finds that history has a nasty way of repeating itself, as his long time best friend and the girl that he loves, with a group of friends start the ritual all over again and the original members are back from the dead, trying to stay in the mortal realm. For Cole and his new friend Pheobe, it’s another fight for survival.
The entire original cast return, Judah Lewis, Emily Alyn Lind, Bella Thorne, Hana Mae Lee, Ken Marino, Leslie Bibb, Robbie Amell, Andrew Bachelor, and Samara Weaving, with Jenna Ortegon as Phoebe. It was written by Dan Lagana, Brad Morris, McG, and Jimmy Warden, and it was directed by McG.
For me one of the main reasons to watch both of these movies is Samara Weaving, she truly steals the show. Unfortunately Samara isn’t in the sequel for a good portion of it.
I was truly amazed that this film was actually as good as the original, even if Samara was barely in it. More laugh out loud moments, even more gore, and a very enjoyable experience. 4 1/2 out of 5.
