TEEN TITANS GO & DC SUPER HERO GIRLS: MAYHEM IN THE MULTIVERSE (2022)

My latest DC animated movie is Teen Titans Go! & DC Super Hero Girls: Mayhem in the Multiverse. I watched it on the Bluray released by Warner Bros.

The voice cast are as follows; Grey Griffin as Wonder Woman and Giganta, Kimberly Brooks as Bumblebee, Nicole Sullivan as Supergirl, Tara Strong as Batgirl, Harley Quinn, and Raven, Myrna Velasco as Green Lantern Jessica Cruz, Kari Wahlgren as Zatanna and Star Sapphire, Scott Menville as Robin, Greg Cipes as Beast Boy, Hynden Walch as Starfire, Khary Payton as Cyborg, Will Friedle as Lex Luthor and Aquaman, Keith Ferguson as Batman, Phil LaMarr as The Flash, Green Lantern John Stewart, and Hawkman, Max Mittelman as Superman, Jason Spisak as Green Lantern Hal Jordan, and Jessica McKenna as Aqualad.

Plus it also stars, Alexander Polinsky as Control Freak, Cree Summer as Hippolyta and Catwoman, Fred Tatasciore as Jor El and Solomon Grundy, and Missi Pyle as Cynthonnia and Speaker of Nations.

The movie was written by Jase Ricci and directed by Matt Peters and Katie Rice.

Matt Peters has also directed the following movies; Injustice, Constantine The House of Mystery, DC Showcase Short: Kamandi The Last Boy On Earth, Justice League Dark: Apokolips War, Lego DC Batman: Family Matters, Lego DC Shazam: Magic and Monsters, Lego DC Comics Super Heroes: Aquaman Rage of Atlantis, Lego DC Comics Super Heroes: Justice League Gotham City Breakout, and Scooby Doo: Shaggy’s Showdown. He has also directed the upcoming movie, Batman and Superman: Battle of the Super Sons.

This is Katie Rice’s first movie as a director, however she has also directed 13 episodes of the Animaniacs and the 2017 short, Camp Weedonwantcha.

This is mostly a DC Super Hero Girls movie, with a sprinkle of Teen Titans Go! here and there, as our female super heroes have to stop the Legion of Doom led by Lex Luthor, a group a super villains, who with the help of a mystical diamond, send many of Earth’s mightiest super heroes to the Phantom Zone. The Legion of Doom are actually being manipulated by Cynthonnia, who’s essence is trapped inside the crystal, and wants to escape.

Once she has escaped she wants to inhabit Supergirl’s body, The Legion of Doom captures Superman and Supergirl in a Kryptonite prison, and it’s up to the rest of the team, to travel to the Phantom Zone, to free the other super heroes, so they can team up with them and defeat the villains, however Zatanna messes up a spell and they end up in the Teen Titans Go! universe, where they learn some lessons, before heading finally to the Phantom Zone, where they free the Super Heroes and defeat Cynthonnia and The Legion of Doom.

Yes there’s very little of the Teen Titans Go! in this film, even though they get top billing in the title of the movie, however originally this was going to be just a DC Superhero Girls movie, but then executives asked for Teen Titans Go to be included in it. They appear a couple of times throughout the movie, as they are watching the events of the movie unfold on their TV before their inevitable crossover. It’s a brilliantly funny film, that I think kids young and old are going to love, I definitely had a fun time with it. It contains mild animated violence, no bad language, and no sexual references. 4 1/2 out of 5.

I of course watched this on Bluray, however with it not being released on Bluray in the UK, I had to get the US release. It comes with a DVD copy and a digital code. As with all of the DC Animated films this year, it’s been a little thin on the extras side, with Green Lantern: Beware My Power being the best of the bunch for extras.

THE BLURAY EXTRAS

The DC Animated movie comes with a small selection of extras, three bonus cartoons, one of DC Super Hero Girls and two of Teen Titans Go. Reviews for all three below;

DC SUPER HERO GIRLS: #SmallVictories (2021)

This is actually the 20th episode of Season 2, making it the 72nd episode in total, there was a lot of episodes in Season 1. In this episode, a malfunctioning device shrinks Karen (Bumblebee) into the Microverse, leaving technophobic Diana as her only hope.

It stars the voice talents of, Grey Griffin as Wonder Woman, Kimberley Brooks as Bumblebee, Tara Strong as Batgirl and Helen, Myrna Velasco as Green Lantern Jessica Cruz, and Roxana Ortega as Old Woman. It was written by Laura Sreebny, and directed by Gina Gress.

As with all the episodes in this series, it’s only 11 minutes in length, which seems to be the average length for a lot of cartoons these days. It’s a fun little episode and a nice edition, I definitely enjoyed it. 4 1/2 out of 5.

TEEN TITANS GO! TITAN SAVING TIME (2017)

The first episode of Teen Titans Go! is the episode Titan Saving Time, which is the 15th episode of the fourth season. In this episode, The Titans are determined to find out what happened to the missing two o’clock hour during Daylight Saving Time, which ends with a fight with a farmer, and his beefed up animals.

It stars the voice talents of, Scott Menville as Robin and Old McDonald, Greg Cipes as Beast Boy, Khary Payton as Cyborg, Tara Strong as Raven and Two O’ Clock, and Hynden Walch as Starfire. It was written by Steve Borst, and directed by Peter Rida Michail.

OMG this is episode is crazy, from the opening role reversal of the titans not wanting to eat their ice cream, and won’t get their vegetables unless they eat it, which in reality it’s usually the other way round especially with kids, to them physically saving the time Two O’ Clock from a farmer and his muscular animals. It runs at 11 minutes in length. It’s hilariously funny and definitely worth watching. It contains nothing unsuitable for children. 4 1/2 out of 5.

TEEN TITANS GO! OPERATION TIN MAN (2015)

The second and final episode of Teen Titans Go! on the disc, is Operation Tin Man, which is the 45th episode of Season 2. In this episode, Gizmo convinces the Titans he’s kidnapped Cyborg, when in reality Cyborg’s just hanging out in the HIVE tower with his girl Jinx. When Gizmo gets annoyed by Cyborg’s constant presence, the two start a prank war, while the Titans keep failing to save Cyborg, in some of the silliest ways imaginable.

This episode stars the voice talents of, Scott Menville as Robin and Billy Numerous, Greg Cipes as Beast Boy, Khary Payton as Cyborg, Tara Strong as Raven, Hynden Walch as Starfire, Kevin Michael Richardon as Mammoth and See-More, and Lauren Tom as Gizmo and Jinx. It was written by Merrill Hagan and directed by Luke Cormican.

It’s just another fun and crazy episode, didn’t enjoy it as much as the first, but I would definitely recommend it, and I enjoyed the overall episode. It contains nothing unsuitable for children. 4 out of 5.

Even though the Bluray is very limited on extras, the overall feature, and the three bonus cartoons, are heaps of fun, and the picture and sound quality is brilliant. 4 1/2 out of 5.
